Unless your bank balance is that of a Premiership footballer, the tube is one of the easiest and most efficient ways of getting around London

But love it or hate it, you cannot avoid overhearing the daily conversations of Londoners and visitors in your carriage.

Here, we have compiled six conversations you are most likely to overhear on the London Underground whether you are eavesdropping or your fellow train passenger is unaware of using their inside voice.

1. "Imagine doing this everyday"

Out of breath and squashed against a window, you'll usually hear this from a group of people visiting from Britain's regional areas.

They're simply baffled how anyone can spend their commute tucked underneath an armpit on a daily basis.

Many visiting the city for the day can't comprehend how Londoners use the tube daily

2. "Hello"

Panic usually sweeps across the carriage when a stranger says "hello" on the London Underground.

They're likely to be considered either drunk by southerners, or just friendly by northerners.

The likelihood is somewhere in between, though if you want to avoid these people just stare at your phone - even if you haven't got any signal, in which case just count the number of apps you have.

3. "I hate my landlord"

Taunted by regional friends paying pocket money for a mansion mortgage in the country, you're likely to hear this during a conversation between Londoners who have just received the news their landlord is increasing the rent.

"Maybe we should move out of London" is also common during this exchange, before concluding the city's pubs are too good to be further than an Uber journey away and the idea is quickly sqashed.

4. "When will the Night Tube actually arrive?"

A thing of the past for those fortunate enough to be travelling on the Victoria, Jubilee and Central Lines.

But for the rest, you'll overhear Londoners longing for the day they don't have to call it a night at 11.45pm on a Saturday.

5. "Oh my God did you watch Made in Chelsea last night?"

While most of the carriage appear perplexed that the lives of posh west Londoners could spark such excitement, you may overhear this conversation from people who pretend to know the cast - "I think he still loves her, I just know it".

6. "I won't be coming back here again"

Fed up of the large crowds, people dodging and £6 pints - you'll sometimes overhear visitors resign to the idea of ever enjoying London.

Until, of course, they're back again in the hope of catching it on a quiet day, unaware the concept of such a thing doesn't exist in the capital.

Some visitors aren't impressed by London - but will they return?
