Unwanted items can be exchanged with other people when Kensington and Chelsea Council hosts a two swap shops this month.

People are being urged to bring unwanted reusable items to either North Kensington Library in Ladbroke Grove or Brompton Library in Old Brompton Road on January 23, and pick up something else in their place for free.

Items being accepted include clothes, books, CDs, DVDs, toys and paired shoes. Owners of large items such as furniture and white goods should bring photos, a description and contact details for display.

It is also open to people who have nothing to swap but are looking for a bargain.

Other items can be recycled but not swapped. These include small electrical items, bicycles, household batteries, printer cartridges, low-energy light bulbs and mobile phones.

The event runs at the two libraries from midday and 4pm.
