The wife and childhood sweetheart of a Wembley man who died in Windsor has paid tribute to him as two men prepare to face trial for manslaughter.

Mohammed Rasheed, "a hard working law abiding citizen", died just nine days from his 51st birthday after suffering an alleged assault in Windsor town centre.

She described a "deep dark hole" which burns inside her since the loss of her husband, whom she described as "a proud Sri Lankan".

His unconscious body was discovered by police in Goswell Hill at around 2am on September 10 and he was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious head injuries.

The father-of-three died two days later, on September 12. Thames Valley Police have charged two men from Staines-upon-Thames in connection with his death.

They are due to appear before Slough Magistrates' Court on December 12, three months to the day after Rasheed's death.

Mohammed Rahseed's wife paid tribute to Rasheed, saying: "My husband Ishan was my childhood sweetheart and was taken away on 12 September 2017, nine days before his 51st Birthday.

“Ishan was a proud Sri Lankan who had lived in Wembley for nine years, and was a hard working law abiding citizen.

“He always had a smile on his face and was the life and soul of the party. He made an impact to everyone he met including family, friends, colleagues and strangers.

“A memorial still stands for Ishan where candles have been burning for two months. I have been going to Windsor twice a week with the help of my friends to where Ishan took his last steps and his presence is strongly felt by everyone who visits there.

“He leaves behind three wonderful children who he was a great father to and is truly missed by all.

“The impact of losing Ishan is indescribable beyond words.

“Our lives have changed forever, I miss Ishan every second of every minute of every day, and it leaves a deep dark hole which burns inside me.”

The tribute ended with a quote from Bob Marley song Zimbabwe, "every man gotta right to decide his own destiny".

* Ashley Ball, 28, of Wheatsheaf Lane, Staines, and Kirk Bentley, 31, of Church Street, Staines, have been charged with manslaughter in connection to his death.
