If good things come to those who wait, then Kensington and Chelsea could be the place to find love.

New figures show the Royal borough has some of the highest average ages for people getting married in England and Wales.

However, it’s more likely to be young love in other parts of west London, with some of the youngest average ages for those getting wed.

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, come from information recorded when marriages are registered and cover civil and religious marriages between opposite sex couples in England and Wales in 2014, the most recent figures available.

Data shows the average age of a groom in Kensington and Chelsea is 38.7 years, compared to the national average of 37.

Brides in the borough are an average 35.8 years of age, compared to 34.6 years in England and Wales.

Only Bexley had a higher average age for a groom (39.3) in London.
