The Old Oak Common and Park Royal (OPDC) area is not only west London's, but the UK's largest development project.

Under the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan's, proposals the site will undergo massive regeneration and promises to bring with it 25,500 new homes and 65,000 new jobs.

Public consultation of the plans officially closed on September 11 (Monday), but there is still a lot about this massive project you might not know.

Housing developments in west London

Here's a breakdown of the plans so far.

Developers

The Mayor of London’s development corporation, the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), is in charge of overseeing the redevelopment.

It will carry out the development plans with input from the local authorities including Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham councils as well as residents and businesses.

The OPDC is the local planning authority for the area and will therefore determine planning applications within the site boundary.

Area

The development 640 plus hectares development site spans the three boroughs of Brent , Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham .

The places proposed include Old Oak South, Old Oak North, the Grand Union Canal, Park Royal West, Old Park Royal, Park Royal Centre, North Acton and Acton Wells, Old Oak Lane and Old Oak Common Lane, Channel Gate, Scrubs Lane, Willesden Junction and Wormwood Scrubs.

Homes

25,500 new homes are being built and developments will be required to provide a mix of affordable housing.

This affordable housing will include homes to rent and buy, housing for smaller and larger families and specialised housing to meet the needs of older people, disabled people and students.

In 2016 the Mayor of London approved the first planning application to build 605 homes, 40% of which will be affordable.

Jobs

The development plans to generate 65,000 new jobs over the next 20 to 30 years.

Community

The OPDC has designated a special area of the development to the community.

The Old Oak Neighbourhood Area will cover more than 22 hectares (55 acres) and will include most of the existing residential neighbourhoods within the OPDC area and 98% of households proposed.

Residents can use the community hub to voice their views on how their local area will develop, including how plans will affect open spaces, the emerging local centre and a section of the Grand Union Canal, as well as locally-listed buildings and conservation areas.

Transport links

Old Oak and Park Royal is set to become a "transport super-hub" where High Speed 2 meets Crossrail, creating super-fast links in and out of the area.

Proposed deadlines

Autumn 2017: Detailed Old Oak masterplan published.

Late 2017: The Local Plan will be adopted by OPDC as the local planning authority.

Early 2020s: Two new Overground stations will open at the site.

2026: The transport "super hub" opens where High Speed 2 (HS2), the Elizabeth line (formerly Crossrail) and the Great Western Mainline all interchange.

2040: 65,000 new jobs will have been created in the area.
