Three schoolboys were stabbed with a "zombie knife" at the Notting Hill Carnival by an attacker wearing an eye-patch, a court heard.

Jordan Clarke, 20, allegedly targeted the youths aged 15 and 16 in the space of 40 minutes in revenge for the stabbing of one of his friends.

One of the victims was also stabbed in the bottom by Eddy Mombele, 24, as the pair rampaged through the crowds on Saturday August 28 last year, the Old Bailey heard on Tuesday (December 5).

The pair were allegedly captured on CCTV footage wearing distinctive clothing matching descriptions of the attackers.

Clarke was dressed in a grey Nike tracksuit with a scarf covering one eye and was carrying a notched black knife with a silver tip, jurors heard.

The weapon - described in court as being "sometimes called a zombie knife" - was later found in a rucksack at his home.

Mombele was wearing a black hat with a white T on it and was armed with a flicknife, it is claimed.

Prosecutor James Dawes said: "The motivation for these stabbings appear to have been an earlier stabbing of a young man who is a friend of these two men.

"He was stabbed by someone in a group which contained [the first 15 year-old victim].

"It appears from what was said at the time that the people who stabbed him were getting revenge for the earlier stabbing only 15 minutes before.

"The stabbing of [the second and third victims aged 15 and 16] 40 minutes later seems to have been motivated by the same stabbing because they were in the same group."

CCTV footage captured two groups of youths converging at the same place shortly before Clarke and Mombele's friend was stabbed at around 4.25pm.

Mr Dawes said: "They were on a collison course and they meet in the alleyway - it may be they didn't know that.

"These two groups seem to have some disagreement in this narrow place."

Around 12 minutes later at 4.37pm the first 15 year-old victim was stabbed in the buttocks and the arm in Wornington Road near the junction with Golborne Road.

He later told police that he had seen the first stabbing and run away only to be confronted by two men who demanded: "Are you with those guys, do you know them?"

When he replied: "Not really", Mombele stabbed him in the bottom and Clarke stabbed him in the arm, the court heard.

The second and third victims were stabbed near the junction of Wornington Road with Munro Mews at around 5.08pm.

Witnesses described the knifeman as having "damage to his left eye", the court heard.

Clarke, of Ashburnham Road, Chelsea, and Mombele, of Talbot Grove House, Lancaster West, Notting Hill, both deny three counts of wounding with intent and having an offensive weapon.

The trial continues.
