Two officers have been taken to hospital after their unmarked police car flipped over during a chase in Northolt .

At 1.52pm on Wednesday (September 13), the car was involved in an "authorised pursuit" along Kensington Road.

During the police chase, the unmarked police car collided with "street furniture" and was sent crashing down on its roof.

Two officers were inside the car at the time and both have been taken to hospital with minor injuries to their shoulders.

A spokesman for Met Police said that no members of the public were injured and no other cars were involved.

They added: "At 13:52 hours an unmarked police vehicle was involved in an authorised pursuit as it travelled along Kensington Road, Northolt.

"During which the unmarked vehicle has collided with street furniture and ended up on its roof.

"Both officers have minor injuries but exited the vehicle immediately unaided."

London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London Fire Brigade (LFB) attended the scene.

"[LAS] were called today to Kensington Road, Northolt to reports of a road traffic collision," a spokesman for LAS added.

"We treated two men at the scene for shoulder injuries and took them to hospital.”

Local motorists were urged to avoid the area following the collision due to the closure of Kensington Road and the Southall slip from the Target Roundabout.

The closures remained in place for several hours while Roads and Transport Policing Command investigated the circumstances leading up to the police car overturning.
