A woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in Northolt on Monday (March 20), from which 17 cats and six dogs were also rescued.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to Stroud Field at 5.41pm to a blaze at a block of maisonettes. A woman and child had got out of the building by themselves.

The child was treated at the scene while the woman was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

At an adjacent property, 17 cats and six dogs were rescued by crews before the blaze was brought under control at 7.14pm.

The cause of the fire, which took six fire engines and 35 firefighters to deal with, is now under investigation.

Crews from Northolt, Wembley, Harrow and Southall fire stations attended the incident.
