A man has died in a fire at a North Kensington flat.

Emergency services were called to a flat fire in St Marks Road at 6.55am on Sunday (October 8) after reports of a fire.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) crews brought a man believed to be in his 50s out of the third floor flat.

London Ambulance Service tried to resuscitate him but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 8.13am.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters tackled the blaze which was under control by 8.35am.

A small amount of the flat was damaged by fire, which is being treated as non-suspicious by police.

The man is yet to be identified and efforts are being made to trace his next of kin.

Metropolitan Police attended the incident and launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

A Met spokesman said: "The fire is being treated as non-suspicious and the cause is under investigation.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
