A man who threatened police with a firearm in North Acton on Thursday (December 29) has still not been tracked down.

Metropolitan Police launched a search for a man who threatened officers with what the force said appeared to be a firearm after a collision in the Victoria Road Junction on the A40, at around 8.45am following a car chase.

On Friday morning (December 30) officers said the gunman remains on the loose.

Thursday's incident happened after police initially attempted to stop a car seen in Harlesden High Street.

The force spotted the car again in Victoria Road, which led to a chase after the driver drove off at speed before colliding with a member of the public's vehice.

The man in the car being pursued then threatened officers with a firearm before he left the scene on foot.

No injuries were reported and detectives are continuing their investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone who has information to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0207 2302 171.
