Hillingdon residents attempting to buy tickets online for the RAF Northolt open day may have been disappointed to find they could not book because of an issue with their postcode.

Tickets for the highly anticipated summer open day went on the market on Monday morning (March 13) but many will have found they were unable to purchase tickets.

RAF Northolt said a number of "UB" postcodes were left off of the ticket site because of an administration error.

One Sutton Court Road resident, who lives under the RAF base's flight path, said the ticket website found her postcode was invalid.

The resident, who asked not to be named, told getwestlondon : “I am extremely disappointed.

“Everybody I've spoken to is really disappointed they've been excluded.”

When she called See Tickets directly, it revealed residents between UB6 and UB12 postcodes had been unable to buy tickets.

Norfest is set to be a much-awaited family fun day on the historic base in Hillingdon , which will include a host of family entertainment and attractions.

The 7,500 public tickets for the event are available from See Tickets and are priced at £5.

People living in Hillingdon, Ealing and Harrow are eligible to buy tickets.

RAF Northolt station will be holding Norfest on July 22

RAF Northolt has confirmed postcodes had not been excluded but had been omitted because of an administration error.

Residents having problems with their postcodes were asked to let the base know via social media so they could be updated on the ticket site.

The base said on Twitter the fault should now be solved and apologised for the issue.

A spokesman for RAF Northolt said: “With the focus on local communities, the residents of Ealing, Harrow and Hillingdon are our priority for tickets.

"To achieve this a postcode system has been used.

"Unfortunately a small number of ‘UB’ postcodes were omitted on the postcode list, which contains over 19,000 postcodes.

"We’ve worked with See Tickets and local residents and the issue has now been resolved.

"We thank everyone for their patience.

"If any other residents of Ealing, Harrow or Hillingdon should have trouble with their postcode, they simply need to get in touch with RAF Northolt by telephone or on social media and we will get their postcode added."

Confirmed events at Norfest so far are The Queen’s Colour Squadron, RAF Regiment, The Band of the RAF Regiment and "The Imps", the World’s foremost Junior Motorcycle Display team, with many more awaiting to be confirmed.
