Readers have had mixed reactions to the news that Marks and Spencer's is to open a foodhall in Greenford.

Westway Cross Retail Park will become home to a M&S Foodhall when the store opens it doors at 10am on Wednesday August 30.

Comments from the public have flooded getwestlondon's Facebook accounts.

Sarah Waters said "Great News!" while Linda Austin wrote "Very Excited."

Mehrnoush Persia was not as happy with the news, commenting: "OMG NOOOOOO the new store in west way is Marks and Spencer's."

Free parking at the store won Geraldine Nolan Devaney over as she said: "Fab can't wait."

Another said they had been saying the store would be coming to the area for ages, or a Waitrose, and another reader said it would be useful for Christmas.

The foodhall's store manager, Milan Patel, said: “Greenford has such a lovely community feel and we can’t wait to get to know our local customers.

"There’s been lots of excitement in the area about our new Foodhall and the team and look forward to welcoming our new customers on (Wednesday) August 30 and hear their feedback.

"There’ll be something for everyone in the store, whether it’s grabbing a tasty lunch while on the move or entertaining at the weekend with some of our show stopping dishes and desserts, we’ll have it covered.”

Opening hours are from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
