Located just a stone's throw away from the UK's busiest airport it can get rather noisy for one particular primary school in Cranford , Hounslow .

Beavers Community Primary School has more than 600 pupils, and has recently benefited from an £85,000 investment by Heathrow Airport into supporting outdoor learning by reducing the impact of aircraft noise on the local community.

A specially designed Adobe building has been opened within the school grounds with the capacity to accommodate up to 30 pupils.

Following the opening of the eco-friendly outdoor learning area on June 30, Headteacher Beavers Community Primary School, Ms D Scott, said: " The Beavers Adobe building is an exciting addition to the outdoor area of our multicultural school and is much loved by all our pupils.

"It provides a unique place for inventive play as well as being a focus for our outside learning programme which includes the Forest School agenda, Arts and Crafts teaching, Photography, Music and Drama.

"At lunchtimes pupils use the building for creative play or just to relax in the cool for a quiet chat with friends."

MP for Feltham & Heston, Seema Malhotra, said: "Having seen firsthand the benefits of the noise-insulating Adobe earth building, I very much welcome this new facility at Beavers Community School funded by Heathrow Airport.

"Tackling the impact of noise for local schools and homes is a high priority in our community.

"This leading edge outdoor learning environment will benefit current and future generations of pupils.

"I want more schools in Hounslow to benefit from similar facilities, so that our kids enjoy the best indoors and outdoors education possible."

The Adobe instillation is part of a wider project by the airport with 13 specially designed buildings being installed in schools across Hounslow, with a further two planned for Springwell Junior School and Wellington Primary School later on in 2017.

The Community Building Noise Insulation Scheme was launched in August 2005, with a community-led body being appointed in 2006 to oversee the implementation of the project.

"We are very proud to be delivering this noise-reducing project to another of our local neighbours," said Heathrow’s director of environment, Matt Gorman.

"Adobe buildings are an essential part of our efforts to become a better, quieter neighbour, and maximize the opportunities that the airport can provide.

"We will continue to work with Beavers Community Primary School and other local partners to ensure our future generations thrive."
