An internet outage which has struck Uxbridge and West Drayton may not be fixed today (Friday, October 21) to repair, getwestlondon has learned.

Engineers from BT teamed up with other authorities including Hillingdon Council and rail companies to work on the site throughout the night after cables were accidentally damaged by Network Rail .

A spokesperson for BT said: "At the moment, work's continuing and progressing all throughout the night.

"We can't give you any timescales, there's people on the site 24/7 fixing cables but it's close proximity to the rail and not a straightforward repair job."

Frustrated residents have expressed their anger at the situation after being left without access to the internet or telephones for over 40 hours.

Allison Sargent said: "I have no phone or internet...got told it would be done by 5pm yesterday!"

Shane Haynes added: " No internet since Wednesday morning, so frustrating!"

Martin Donovan said: "Sky says they can't say how long it will be until I get services back."

A Network Rail spokesperson told getwestlondon previously: "We are sorry that we have caused people problems with their phone and internet connections.

"While work was taking place in the early hours of Wednesday morning we damaged cables which are used by a number of different communications providers."
