Emergency roadworks which closed a carriageway on the Hammersmith Flyover during the weekend have been successfully completed.

The stretch of A4 was closed westbound overnight and be reduced to one lane during the day between Friday (August 12) night Monday (August 15) morning to allow Transport for London (TfL) to make essential repairs.

The crossing had only just fully reopened last year after undergoing a major £100 million refurbishment , when a fault with a small section of the waterproofing was found during routine checks,

TfL said if repairs were not finished during the weekend that road works could continue on the weekend beginning August 19.

However, this will not be needed after work was successfully completed on time.

Speaking ahead of the road works TfL apologised to road users. Nick Fairholme, director of projects and programmes in surface transport said: “We will do everything we can to minimise disruption and advise road users to plan their journeys to help reduce disruption and apologise for any delays caused during this work.”
