Opened just more than eight years ago, Westfield shopping centre in White City has been rammed by shoppers on weekends.

Whether its families on a day out, or friends getting some retail therapy or even couples on a date, there is something for everyone at London's largest covered shopping centre.

With more than 350 stores including retail shops, restaurants, and a cinema, there are some things about a visit here that will never change.

Nine things that can happen to you at the shopping centre?

1. You will walk for miles

Whether you have a bright early start or stroll in the afternoon there is no doubt you will feel like you've walked for miles by the end of your trip.

In fact the braver hearted could even achieve half their daily step count of 5,000 steps parading around the two floors equivalent to around 30 football pitches in size.

Some maybe more if you step inside and browse inside the stores.

Sometimes celebrities play at the shoping centre, such as Lady Gaga

2. Take a stroll through The Village

Not everyone can afford the glamorous lifestyle some of the shops inside Westfield have to offer, in particular the luxury of The Village.

But there's no harm in peeking in to see how the other half live with stores such as Tiffany's, Prada and Louis Vitton.

There are more than 35 boutiques, a personal stylist lounge and of course the Searcy's champagne bar.

And in fact its location is one of the first entrances to the inside of the centre if you come get off at Shepherd's Bush London Overground or Shepherd's Bush central line stations.

3. Get distracted by the buzz of The Bull

There is only pub in Westfield and its located outside on the Southern Terrace right in the middle of the restaurant strip.

You can't miss The Bull because that's where all the noise is coming from and its the perfect spot to quench your thirst.

In fact chances are after your shopping spree this is the place you find to have a well deserved cold pint or wine.

Plenty of places to eat

4. You can't stop eating

That's because there is food everywhere! With over 50 restaurants and cafés to choose from the world is your oyster.

Think of a cuisine and it is there. Indian, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Italian, Burgers and so on.

There's restaurants on the Southern Terrace, a food court on the first floor and some favourites on the second floor including Nandos, Pizza Express and Byron.

Not to mention there are also plenty of spots to grab a bite while on the move dotted around the shopping centre.

5. Your younger kids want you to take them to Playworld...

The specially designed play area for children aged five and under marks pretty much the start of the children's area.

It is located next to Debenhams on the ground floor and is also where the baby and toddler clothes shops and toy shops including The Entertainer and Disney can be found.

6...Or they spot a Kiddy Car

The moment your child sees another in a comfy indoor car being driven around.

The small hire cars for children can be handy when travelling around the shopping centre but they also come at a price: £6 for a single and £8 for a double.

But it may well be worth it after all it can save those dreaded screams when out in public because they're too tired to walk!

7. And the older ones want to go to KidZania London!

A city built for children aged four to 14 is probably why kids like going to Westfield.

Here they can fulfill their dreams of becoming a firefighter, surgeon or a pilot and experience life as an adult for a few hours.

Kids can learn how a news bulletin is put together after the opening of The Al Jazeera Network replica studio in KidZania in Westfield shopping centre

But don't forget you have to book tickets to get through security and board KidZania London!

8. You bump into someone you know

There's always a story to take home and mostly it will be "guess who I bumped into at Westfield."

Whether it's a family friend, aunt or uncle, colleagues or someone you went to school with this is bound to happen to you!

9. You lose your car

What is it about shopping that gives us a spot of amnesia when it comes to finding your car at the end of the trip.

You get your parking ticket on entry and if you flip it round you can even write exactly where you parked...but it's still tricky business.

But then you come back laden with bags, legs aching, tired and everything looks different and where you parked your car has suddenly drifted from your mind!

What will happen when the expansion is complete!
