The date it set, and just in time for Christmas, on Friday December 16 the Piccadilly line will begin it's night service.

It follows the introduction of a night service on the Central, Victoria and Jubilee lines which launched earlier this year and a service on the Northern, coming into operation on November 18.

Since the 24 hour service launched on August 19, over one million journeys have been made.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan made the Piccadilly Line announcement on November 1, and said: “The addition of the Piccadilly line will help even more thousands of Londoners every weekend, from those taking in the capital's cultural landmarks to the many workers who keep London open around the clock.”

With trains running on average every 10 minutes on each of the lines, it's a popular choice for Londoner's looking to travel home after a late night in the capital.

And many tube users have been commenting on Social Media, celebrating the arrival of yet another Night Tube.

Alison Jordan posted on Facebook that is was the "best xmas prezzie ever" while one Twitter user said it's "what dreams are made of"

But why is London going crazy over the Night Tube? Well, here's a few reasons you may agree with:

1) A seat is guaranteed

One thing that we all hate about the tube is the inability to find somewhere to sit

No-one enjoys being crammed up against a stranger in the early morning rush hour, when it seems to be a competition of how many passengers can we get in one carriage.

All concepts of personal space are thrown straight out of the window.

It's something you don't need to worry about on the night tube.

Now you may have to struggle past someone sprawled across two or three seats, (they've probably had one too many).

But you can guarantee, somewhere - there will be a seat with your name on it.

2) No more Oyster worries

Jumping on the night bus, but the light turns red? Oh-oh, you have ran out of credit and its 3am.

On the underground you can top up your Oyster at any time of the night.Problem solved.

3) Cheap flights

With the addition of the Piccadilly night service, passengers flying to and from Heathrow airport will now be able to fully benefit from cheap early morning and late night flights.

Yes, the line runs a 24-hour service to Terminal 5, meaning you now no longer need to re-mortgage your house to pay for a taxi in the middle of the night.

4) Enjoy London's Christmas festivities

Now, some of us many be Christmas shopping ninjas, you'll have all of your presents bought and wrapped before November is out.

But really, how many of us are actually that prepared?

With plenty of shops in London staying open late into the night, many of you will be making the most of post work, last minute present shopping.

Worried about missing your last bus home? The night tube saves the day, so now even the most unorganised person can ensure they have all they need, just in time for Christmas.

Oh, also Christmas markets and work Christmas parties? Another luxury we can enjoy, and Chiswick Lib Dems agree:

5) Spontaneous post work drinks

Had a crazy week? Feeling a few last minute drinks with your colleagues on a Friday night?

You no longer need to worry about cutting your night short and grabbing the last tube home.

So...go on, have another one. It's never to early to get into the Christmas spirit.

Thanks night tube, now we don't have to worry about planning our way home

6) Safe way to travel

The night tubes are well lit, monitored by CCTV and are patrolled by the British Transport Police (BTP).

Since launching, 750,000 passengers have used the service, with 31 crimes being recorded by BTP, which said its priority is keeping London safe.

Chief Superintendent Martin Fry of BTP told getwestlondon: “The launch of Night Tube was a very significant event for the London Underground and a special moment in history for London.

"We will continue to deliver the exceptional service that the people of London have come to expect.

"Our priority will always be the safety and security of passengers and staff traveling and working in London.”

7) Saves time

With the world moving as fast as it does - our time is extremely precious.

On the night tube, we can be home in a fraction of the time.

"So rather than catching up on your sleep on the three hour night bus journey, you can save your sleep for your bed.

Stations like Ealing Broadway are included in the Night Tube

8) Waiting in the warm

There's nothing worse than having to wait for your ride home outside in the freezing cold.

The warm air of the underground will be a welcome feeling in the early hours of the morning.

No need to wait outside for the night bus

9) Saves money

Living in London can wreak havoc on our bank accounts, so where we can save, we save.

Worried about forking out on that taxi to get home after a night out? Rather spend your last tenner on another drink or two?

Night tube to the rescue, so go on, stay and have another drink, the night tube is a cheap trip home.

And getwestlondon reader Liam Willis agrees:

The night tube saves money by avoiding costly cabs

10) No more weird bus encounters

Yes, after a few drinks, even the best of us can get a bit carried away.

Someone bothering you? Rather than having to endure it for the whole journey, on the tube you can jump off at the next stop and change carriage! Phew!

11)Perhaps the most important...Weekend nights out!

Enjoying your Saturday night? Or maybe one of your mates is taking their sweet time to get their round in?

We no longer need to worry about racing back for the last trip home, so in the run up to Christmas, you can make sure you benefit from not only your round, but from your friends aswell. Cheers!

Oh and one more.....

We love the Night Tube because we can now enjoy all that London has to offer throughout the night from midnight workouts to pamper evenings.
