New Wilko store opening in Hammersmith marked with charity donation

Customers were given free gifts when they walked through the doors of the new branch

The new Wilko store in Hammersmith has opened.

The branch, in the Kings Mall Shopping Centre , welcomed customers on March 8, bringing 47 jobs to the area .

It was opened Hammersmith and Fulham mayor Mercy Umeh, who led the ceremonial ribbon cutting, along with the CEO of local charity Hammersmith United Charities, Tim Hughes.

Branch manager Linda Tollja said: “We are delighted to have opened a new store in Kings Mall and can’t wait to welcome the local community to the new branch.

“I started working at Wilko 14 years ago, so it’s a dream come true to open and manage a new store, especially in London.”

To mark the occasion the first 50 shoppers through the door received a retro blender and the next 50 picked up a £5 gift card with goody bag packed full of Wilko products. And throughout the day the store gave out coffee and goody bags filled with Wilko stationery in Lyric Square .

On March 12 it is hosting a family fun day complete with entertainment and giveaways including a balloon modeller in store and the local Lyric Young Group performing a dance routine for shoppers.

The first 100 customers of the day will receive a goody bag, which includes a £5 gift card and Wilko gardening goodies.

Wilko will sell homeware and furniture, DIY and decorating, health and beauty and garden and outdoor products.
