New interactive gym set to open in North Acton

Anyone who signs up for membership before opening day will have access to a special reduced rate

Work has started on a new gym in North Acton for university students and the local community.

iGym will be situated within a new Imperial College London student residential complex, in Victoria Road, and is set to open its doors on September 1.

Anyone who signs up for membership before then will have access to a special reduced rate.

iGym will include an 80-station fitness suite kitted out with a wide range of cardiovascular, resistance and free weight kits from Pulse Fitness, and all cardio equipment will feature an 18.5” interactive touchscreen.

The gym will offer more than 50 classes per week in two purpose-built studios. The timetable will cater for all ages and abilities, and will include group cycling which will take place in its own dedicated studio.

Visitors to iGym will also get the chance to experience PulseMove, the newly-launched digital fitness tracker which connects their workouts in the gym with all the activity they do outside of the gym.

The in-gym kiosk allows members to access a virtual personal trainer who plans their workout and automatically sets up each machine upon insertion of the membership card.

Members will also be able to view a ‘Facebook-style’ news feed of fitness highlights plus detailed statistics and data on fitness activity history.

Pulse managing director Chris Johnson said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Imperial College London to open this brand new facility on the Acton campus.

“The facilities at iGym will be first-class and will incorporate some of the latest fitness technology.

"We hope to attract both students and members of the local community, giving more people in Acton the chance to be more active more often.”

Founder members of iGym will pay just £28 per month with no contract. The cost after September 1 will be £34.95 per month.
