A new free school is set to open its doors in Feltham in September next year.

Applications for a place at Logic Studio School, sponsored by Feltham Community College (FCC), in Browell's Lane, are open to Year 10 and Year 12 students.

The small school which will specialise in IT, business management and logistics, will open to 40 pupils in Year 10; and 75 pupils in Year 12.

It will provide a curriculum not just designed for passing exams but providing an education with employers and a career in mind, so final year students leave with the right skills and are better prepared for the world of work.

Principal designate Jay Lockwood, who worked at FCC for seven years and has now returned to the area, said: “This really is a revolutionary approach to education.

“We are redressing the major flaw in the current education system; that students are leaving school without the skills and knowledge they need to be employable.

“I’m ambitious for the future of the young people of Feltham – they deserve an education that will prepare them to succeed.

"Our students will not only be highly employable when they leave, but also will have some great connections in place thanks to the six weeks of work experience they will have enjoyed during their time at Logic.

“This really is a school for, and in, the local community."

Logic Studio School has linked up with 20 local companies and has three main business partners: DHL, Gaia and Tudor Park Enterprises.

The Logic experience will also include weekly seminars with industry leaders; one-to-one coaching; project work collaboration with business entrepreneurs; six weeks work experience and more.

Join Logic for an open day and evening (9.30am-7pm) with Gaia and DHL on Wednesday November 18, to see how employers will bring the curriculum to life.
