Star players who are gearing up for Brentford FC’s assault on the Championship this season posed proudly alongside die-hard supporters for a team photo with a difference.

Members of the 2014/15 squad donned the new-look yellow away kit as they joined fans dressed in the traditional red and white stripes yesterday (Sunday) at Griffin Park.

New signings including Alan Judge and Scott Hogan joined stalwarts such as Jonathon Douglas and Harlee Dean for an afternoon of family fun to help kick off the new season.

It was like a treasure hunt with a twist as players located themselves at various points around the ground including in the dressing room, the Learning Zone and even the Board Room.

Young fans then had the fun of racing around the site looking for their favourite star in the hope of bagging those all-important autographs.

Alongside the meet and greet opportunities there was the usual array of activities including a chance to watch the players train and pose for pictures with loveable club mascot Buzz Bee.

Brentford FC’s Community Sports Trust were also on hand for various sporting challenges while stalls sold items like bubble mixture and sweets to keep the children happy.

Community development manager Luis Melville said: “We had short tennis, an ultimate frisbee challenge and ball-in-the-bin and long queues for people wanting to try all three of them.

“It was especially great that so many of the players joined in, the manager Mark Warburton even had a go at throwing the frisbee into the net!

“Players like Richard Lee and Kevin O’Connor have always supported us at these events, but newcomers like Charlie Adam who came through out Futsall programme also showed how much they believe in what we do.

“The club kindly gave us four shirts to give away as prizes and everything on the day ran smoothly thanks to our street sports co-ordinator Graham Goodden.

“Season ticket sales are up in light of the club’s promotion so it was great to see so many new faces alongside all the familiar long-term supporters.

“We have an amazing chance to showcase what we do as a trust and are all very much looking forward to this coming season."
