A new school in Marylebone has opened in the premises vacated by DLD College.

Wetherby Senior School completes the Wetherby Group, which now provides Gold Standard education from children as young as two-and-a-half to 18 at Little Wetherby (Nursery), Wetherby School, Wetherby Preparatory School and now the senior school.

The boys’ school will focus on traditional curriculum subjects and offers a four-form entry with each form comprising an average of 15 boys. It will eventually have a capacity of 400 pupils.

The aim is for boys to apply and transfer to the top universities in the UK as well as Ivy League institutions in America and notable universities across the globe.

There are 20 classrooms, five science laboratories, two art studios, a music suite and a multipurpose theatre in an area of over 22,000sq-ft. The school has the exclusive use during term time, along with Wetherby Preparatory School, of outstanding sports facilities at The Park Club, Acton.

It was able to move into the Marylebone premises after DLD relocated to purpose-built premises in the heart of London at Westminster Bridge Road.

Prior to opening it underwent a full refurbishment programme both internally and externally, with an investment of £3m.

Nick Baker, who has been the headmaster of Wetherby Preparatory School for eight years, is now also the headmaster of the senior school. He said: “Our school will meet the growing demand from parents for a boys’ senior school in central London. With our outstanding facilities and exceptional teaching and pastoral care, we will deliver the consummate level of pupil and parental support that Wetherby is famous for.”

The Wetherby Group is based in Notting Hill.
