A n umber of people were injured and a man was detained at the scene after a car mounted the pavement outside the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.

Police attended the incident in Exhibition Road at 2.21pm on Saturday (October 7).

The incident occurred on exhibition road

The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum are all located in Exhibition Road.

The Victoria and Albert Museum tweeted: "Further to an incident on Exhibition Road today, the V&A remains open for visitors but entrances on Exhibition Road are currently closed."

The Science Museum confirmed it is still open, but on the advice of police is not letting in additional visitors.

A police cordon is still in place and affects roads around the Natural History Museum.

Metropolitan Police officers have advised drivers to avoid the area.

The nearest tube station to the incident is South Kensington which sits on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines.

TFL reports a good service on all lines running to South Kensington station which remains open.
