Brothel opposite primary school and Sikh temple closed down after naked women seen outside

On Monday (March 27) getwestlondon revealed Southall Green Local Police Team (LPT) shut down a brothel on March 22.

It followed complaints naked women were "loitering outside" the Western Road property.

After issuing a closure order, police left a sign on the door which read: "Brothel closed. This property is now empty. No girls here."

When we spoke to neighbours, they told us prostitution had been rampant there for around eight months and how sometimes they spotted naked girls dancing in the garden.

Just seven days after the brothel's closure and only half a mile away, a 27-year-old man named Augustus Fenton was stabbed in Featherstone Road . He died in hospital the morning after the attack.

Officers were called to the street, at the junction with Hartington Road, at 3.30pm on Tuesday (March 28).

A second man suffered minor stab injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.

A post-mortem held this week confirmed Mr Fenton died of stab wounds.

Southall street 'most crime-ridden in country' after police called 244 times in six months, study suggests

On Thursday (March 30) getwestlondon reported that a study found Chevy Road, in Southall, to be the most "crime-ridden" in the country .

Address experts Hopewiser found there were 244 reports of crime there between July and December last year, more than any other city street in the UK and Wales.

The figure, obtained through newly released police data, shows 183 of the 244 reports were allegations of violence and sexual offences.

The number of convictions relating to each report has not yet been released.

April Fools! Controversial plans revealed to rename Uxbridge to avoid confusion with 'Oxbridge'

It was reported Uxbridge could be renamed

On Saturday (April 1), we revealed plans to rename Uxbridge to avoid confusion with the word "Oxbridge" , used to combine Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

All was not as it seemed though, as this was in fact an April Fools gag.

Some readers didn't quite pick up on the joke, however, with one commenting: "Why should we change our town name for people can't clean out their ears or their Sat Nav?

"Money is already tight why bother wasting more?"

Quite.

Hayes crash: Police appeal after motorcyclist dies in Uxbridge Road collision with car

A man died after a collision in Uxbridge Road near the Yeading Lane junction

Sadly, a 38-year-old motorcyclist died on Saturday (April 1) after a collision with a car in Uxbridge Road.

Metropolitan Police was called to the road, at the junction with Yeading Lane, at around 12.50pm.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.12pm.
