A murder investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old was found stabbed to death in Hayes.

The teenager was discovered collapsed in the street in Gledwood Gardens, Hayes, where police were called on Monday (August 15) shortly before 4pm to reports of a stabbing.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene, near the junction with Gledwood Drive, but was pronounced dead at 4.37pm.

An 18-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder. He remained in custody at a west London police station on Tuesday (August 16) morning.

Police said the suspect and victim were known to one another, and officers believe the attack initially took place at an address in Gledwood Gardens.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: "I would ask anyone who has information that could assist this investigation to contact the incident room.

"We are especially keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Gledwood Gardens shortly before 4pm and witnessed the assault to come forward."
