The older brother of a teenage boy from Feltham , whose body was pulled from a lake, has described him as a “spontaneous” person who "loved his family and friends”.

The untimely death of Leon Wilson, of Roebuck Close, came as a shock to family and friends, after his body was recovered from Lammas Lake in Staines where he had been out swimming with friends on Tuesday (July 19).

Concerns for his safety were raised and divers searched the waters for almost two hours before his body was found at around 8pm.

Justin Wilson has spoken of his memories of his 19-year-old younger brother.

“He was really spontaneous and outgoing,” he said. “Not loud, but outspoken. He really liked being around people and loved his friends.

“He always tried to keep people happy. He went on his bike a lot, and was always taking it apart and putting it back together. He was always travelling and socialising.”

He added, Leon wanted to work with animals, but also liked fixing things and was interested in mechanics, so he “always wanted to do everything”.

Leon lived on Roebuck Close in Feltham, attended Feltham Hill Junior School and went on to study at Lampton School and more recently a multi-skills course at Capel Manor College in Ealing.

He is one of four siblings, brother Justin, and sisters 39-year-old Marlene and 26-year-old Louvina.

“[My favourite memories of him] is when all the family are together and cooking, and when we both went out for a ride on our bikes," said Justin.

“Leon was a very fun person, and liked being the centre of attention. He loved his music, R&B and Hip Hop. His favourites were Chris Brown and Eminem.”

Justin added: "I'll miss his personality, his love towards other people. He would upset himself before he would upset other people.

"He just loved his family and friends – and his brother!”

A memorial walk was due to be held on Thursday (July 21) from Staines bus station to Lammas Lake, where friends will exchange memories.

Leon's friend, Luke Cairns, who was “heartbroken” by the tragic news, wrote on Facebook: “People from the community alongside his friends and family are welcome. We would really like to see as many people as possible turn up.”

Around a dozen emergency service vehicles assisted the search including Surrey police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's water search team and the National Police Air Service.
