A mural dedicated to British Olympian Sir Mo Farah has appeared in the athlete's home town of Feltham .

Throughout June, mural artist Richard Wilson was busy transforming the wall of the Russell Finex factory next to Feltham's Leisure West, into a piece of art in honour of the runner.

As a youngster, the Olympic gold medalist attended Feltham Community College, which is just around the corner from the factory.

With four Olympic gold medals to his name in the 5,000m and 10,000m events, one of the ideas behind the mural is to connect with the local community to inspire the next generation of sporting heroes .

Ray Singh, managing director of Russell Finex said: "We are thrilled to be able to celebrate the achievements of a local hero in this way.

"It is important that the local community can identify with global superstars, and remember that we have grown up in the same area.

"With the right motivation, dedication, talent and education, it is possible to achieve truly great things."

Russell Finex, who are global manufacturers of industrial separation equipment, commissioned Richard Wilson to complete the mural.

The artist is known for his large-scale portraits and murals including one of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Leicester City Football Club Premier League title-winning team in 2016.

He hopes the local community can connect with the image.

He said: "For me, the interesting part is bringing out the character of the subject.

"Obviously, Sir Mo is well known for his outgoing, generous personality, whilst being humble and recognising where he has come from.

"He also has a very distinctive running style.

"I tried to make sure these were incorporated into the design.

"I’ve had many positive comments about the piece, and I hope it is something the local community can connect with."
