A cat has been found nine months after he went missing, 150 miles away from home in Feltham - much to the delight of his owner.

John Pidgeon was distraught when six-year-old Buddy disappeared from his home in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, in September last year.

After months of putting posters around his local area and contacting his local council to see whether the feline had been found he eventually gave up hope of ever seeing him again.

But a miracle happened last Thursday (June 9) after a concerned member of the public called the RSPCA who had the cat taken to a vet and scanned for a microchip.

Mr Pidgeon said: “I was asking people - do you think he will recognise me? But he came home, just had a brief look round and is now right at home.

“I wasn’t expecting it at all, when I got the call from the RSPCA inspector - she asked me where I was and when I told her she said ‘where’s that?’ which I thought was strange as I assumed she would be local.

"But when she told me where she was and where she had found him, I couldn’t believe it!

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have him back.”

Buddy the cat's 150-mile journey from Nottingham to Feltham in west London

Buddy has settled back into his home after his travels but has developed a thyroid issue and is underweight.

The animal welfare charity were called on May 29 after someone had noticed him looking a bit lost and confused.

RSPCA inspector Leanna Hone took Buddy to the vets and scanned him for a microchip which fortunately had been kept up to date.

She then drove the cat to Northampton where he was picked up by a second RSPCA staff member and taken the rest of the way home to Nottingham.

Inspector Hone said: “I have no idea how Buddy managed to travel 150 miles or what he has been doing since September.

“It’s lucky he had his microchip kept up to date and I’m so pleased we were able to reunite him with his owner.”
