A police officer has been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police for "consuming and misusing" steroids.

Police said a drug test found metabolites for anabolic-androgenic steroids in his system.

PC Georgios Agathangelou, from Enfield borough, answered an allegation that his conduct amounted to a breach of the Met's standards of professional behaviour in respect of "discreditable conduct".

The special case hearing was held on Friday (December 1)

A Met Police spokesman said: "It was alleged that on December 6 2016, the urine sample PC Agathangelou provided for a with-cause drug test was found to contain metabolites for anabolic-androgenic steroids, indicating that he had been consuming and misusing steroids, contrary to the Met's substance misuse policy."

The chair of the hearing found the allegation proven and dismissed Agathangelou without notice.
