The 'Tiny Dancer' melting viewers' hearts in the latest John Lewis advert is Bunny May, an eight-year-old schoolgirl from Maida Vale.

Her impassioned dance routine to the Elton John hit, in which she cavorts around a family home, careering into household goods, is being used by the retail giant to sell home insurance.

The video has racked up more than 1.4m views on Youtube, thanks to its winning combination of cutesiness and chuckles, even earning Sir Elton's stamp of approval according to the advertising agency behind it, adam&eveDDB.

Young Bunny is too busy focusing on the start of the school year for an interview, according to John Lewis, but she did open up about her likes and aspirations on the company's website.

Her favourite song to dance to is apparently Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, and she wants to be a dancer, shop window designer or astronaut when she grows up.

Bunny beat competition from more than 200 girls to win the role, with director Dougal Wilson saying she had the perfect mix of dancing ability and natural "wobbles".

She worked on the routine with Royal Ballet choreographer Kirsten McNally and said: "I found the ballet-type spins easy. I am quite serious when I dance so the serious character suited me."

But she also revealed her family doesn't have a working TV so they would probably have to watch the advert on a friend's set.
