Thousands of pounds of dodgy goods have been seized in raids in Southall and Greenford.

Ealing Council Trading Standards Officers seized around 1,839 items, worth an estimated value of £24,640, including mobile phone accessories such as Samsung covers and headphones, Apple Ear Pods and Nokia phones.

A total of three premises inspected in Bridge Road, Southall, were all were found to be selling prohibited goods during raids on Thursday September 7.

In addition, £3,297 worth of counterfeit E Liquids were seized.

The haul came just one week after a shop in Greenford was also found to have illicit goods which included 5,980 packs of cigarettes, 1.75kg of HRT tobacco, 300g of Indian tobacco and 54 bottles of vodka, on Thursday August 31.

The items will now be formally examined and further investigations will take place on the seized items, say Ealing Council.

Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for safety, culture and community services, said: "Our trading standards team always do an outstanding job in protecting the public and the council does not tolerate dishonest businesses.

"We are determined to protect our residents by stopping dangerous goods reaching the market.

"The majority of businesses in the borough abide by the laws but when we do find unscrupulous businesses we will take action."
