Flying Squad detectives are investigating a smash and grab raid at the Rolex store in Knightsbridge yesterday.

Officers were called at 10.36am on Wednesday August 27 to reports of a robbery in progress at the store in SW1 - as seven people armed with axes and sledgehammers attempted to smash the front window.

When this failed they forced the door of the store using one of the four mopeds they were riding. The masked gang then stole a quantity of watches and fled onto South Carriage Drive.

Mounted officers blocked the road attempting to prevent them from escaping and the mopeds then turned around escaped in the direction of central London.

Police say no one was injured during the robbery and there have been no arrests so far. It follows a similar moped raids at designer shops in the area including the Valentio handbag store and Louis Vuitton but it is not known if any of the crimes are linked.
