A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a woman who fell into the Thames near Fulham.

Jack Shepherd will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on October 18 following the death of Charlotte Sophie Brown, 24 , who fell into the water near Wandsworth Bridge in 2015.

The 30-year-old from Abergavenny in Wales was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence by postal charge requisition, formerly known as a magistrates’ court summons, on Tuesday (September 19).

The incident occurred on December 8 2015, at 11.45pm, with police called to reports of someone in distress in the River Thames near Wandsworth Bridge.

Officers from Wandsworth borough and the Marine Support Unit attended alongside the National Police Air Service, the Coastguard, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

A man and Ms Brown were recovered from the water and taken to hospital but the 24-year-old woman later died.

Officers from Wandsworth borough initially investigated before detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command took over the inquiry.
