Passers-by were alarmed after a man fell from a pedestrian bridge in Uxbridge on Monday night (July 27).

The man, believed to be aged in his mid-20s, is currently in an east London hospital in a critical but stable condition.

London's Air Ambulance, police, and London Ambulance Service were called to Trumper Way at around 6.50pm to reports that a man had fallen from the pedestrian bridge which connects to the Pavilions shopping centre.

An eyewitness saw a tent erected by police near the Crown Walk bus stop and queues of traffic.

Other passers-by took to Twitter after the distressing sight.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We're optimistic as it's perhaps not life-threatening."

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Part of Oxford Road was closed while emergency services attended.

This is the second such incident in as many months in the Uxbridge area.
