A man who fell from a bridge in Northolt which caused the temporary closure of the A40 has suffered "life changing injuries".

Met Police were called at 11.19am on Tuesday (August 30) after reports a man had fallen from the Target Roundabout above the A40 in Northolt.

Officers confirmed on Wednesday (August 31) that he had suffered "life-changing injuries", meaning his condition is serious but not life-threatening.

No vehicles were involved in the incident.

The man was taken to a central London hospital after the London Air Ambulance had arrived shortly after the police.

The A40 between the Greenford Flyover and the Target Roundabout was closed shortly after the incident before it was reopened at around 12.30pm.

LAS said: "We were called at 11:15am to reports of a person fallen from a height in Northolt.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and our hazardous area response team to the scene, alongside London's Air Ambulance.

"We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to a hospital in west London."
