A man who went missing on his way to family Christmas celebrations, has been found safe and well.

68-year-old John Meade, from Wallington, was last seen at Sutton railway station, at 3:50pm on Christmas Eve, Friday (December 24).

Police were alerted to his disappearance after he was making his way to stay with family in West Ruislip , but never arrived.

There was a reported sighting at around 10pm later that night in Hanwell , so it was believed he only made half his journey.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Officers in Sutton were appealing for the public's help in locating a missing man from Wallington.

"John Meade, 68, has now been found.

"We thank media for assistance with appeals."
