Shoppers and passers-by were concerned when ambulance vehicles and police cars were spotted, at a newly-opened Aldi in South Ruislip .

No crime had been committed at the busy supermarket, but a man was hospitalised after suffering a cardiac arrest at the scene.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed they were called at 4.05pm on Thursday (May 19) to reports of an unwell person on Victoria Road.

A spokesperson for LAS said: “We sent an ambulance crew and a single responder by car to the scene.

“We treated a man in cardiac arrest at the scene and took him to hospital as a priority”.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed officers also attended the scene, at 4.19pm, and that no crimes were apparent.

The Aldi store was opened on April 28 and saw traffic 'log-jammed' as shoppers queued to visit it.
