The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) have begun an investigation after a man was left in a critical condition when he was hit by a police car in Wembley on July 10 at 1am.

The 40-year-old man, who is from Poland, was hit on Wembley Hill Road, just outside the entrance to Wembley Stadium , by the vehicle which was responding to an emergency domestic violence call.

As the car, which had two officers inside, drove towards Harrow Road, the man emerged from the pavement and into the path of the vehicle.

Early information indications that the man fractured his skull and broke his leg in the collision and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.

The IPCC are currently continuing with their investigation, having obtained CCTV from the area as well as data from the police car but are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to come forward and contact them on 0800 151 0019 or email witness@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk.

The man's next of kin are currently being informed and will be kept updated as the IPCC's investigation continues.

Another man was injured after being hit by a car in Harlesden in Harrow Road after a disturbance last week.
