A thoughtless prankster has sparked outrage by dressing up as a 'suicide bomber' on a busy Tube train.

The insensitive joker was apparently wearing full camouflage gear with a large backpack and a fake bomb strapped to his chest.

One scared commuter even reportedly considered tackling the 'terrorist' when he saw him on the District Line last night.

What appears to be his friends were also dressed in police outfits with fake guns.

Twitter user Alec Wilson snapped a picture of the group late on Monday (January 18) when he saw them at Fulham Broadway and posted the picture on Twitter and Instagram.

Commenters on the London Reddit page branded the act as irresponsible, with one Reddit user saying: "That sounds like a really dumb way to get yourself killed".

Another user called the group of lads "c*ckwombles".

British Transport Police called the act "insensitive and crass behaviour."

A BTP spokesperson said: “While this incident was not reported to us by anyone on the train, it is insensitive and crass behaviour in the light of recent terrorist attacks across the world and the threat to the UK currently at severe.

“It is important for everyone to remember the need to be responsible and considerate to fellow passengers while making your journey.

“We would always encourage anyone to report anything they think is suspicious or which makes them uncomfortable to us, to allow us to establish if any further action is needed.

“People can contact us on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016."

Metropolitan Police declined to comment.

Scotland Yard said in December 2015, in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks , that officers in London would be permitted to shoot suspected terrorists without negotiating with them.
