A man is fighting for his life in hospital following a serious assault in Hounslow on Tuesday morning (September 29).

The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, suffered a head injury and is in a critical condition in hospital, according to police.

The Met said officers were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) to reports of a seriously injured man in Bath Road, near Hounslow West Tube station, at 3.40am.

Bath Road was closed in both directions, between Hounslow West underground station and the junction with Martindale Road in Hounslow, causing major congestion in the area.

Hounslow West underground station was also closed for several hours but was reopened at around 10am.

While the station was closed, Transport for London advised people using public transport to use Hounslow Central or Hatton Cross instead, and a spokesman said tickets were being accepted on local buses.

A number of bus routes are on diversion including 81, 203, 222, H32, H98, and N9.

Officers from Hounslow CID are investigating.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
