A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a 23-year-old was killed in Notting Hill when he was hit by a Bentley on Thursday night (August 6).

George Claudiu Albu, 31, of Porchester Road, Paddington, has been remanded in custody and has also been charged with driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He was charged on Saturday (August 8) and will appear at West London Magistrates' Court on Monday (August 10).

The incident follows a fatal road traffic collision in Pembridge Villas, Notting Hill, on Thursday after which the £120,000 Bentley Continental was abandoned in the street.

It is thought the young victim works for maintenance company Quadron and was reported to have been trying to direct traffic around his truck when he was struck.

He has not yet been formally identified but it is believed his family have been informed.
