A 21-year-old has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of a man in Willesden.

Elmi Awil was remanded in custody following an appearance at the Central Criminal Court on Friday (August 19).

The charge follows the death of Mustafa Farah from Camden, who was badly injured in an incident in Bertie Road at the junction with Willesden High Street on June 4.

Awil, from Harley Road in Harlesden , had appeared at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on June 11 initially charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

However, Mr Farah died on June 12 and Awil was subsequently charged with murder on August 12.

He will appear at the same court on November 4 for a plea and case management hearing.

Police said they were called to the scene on June 4, close to Willesden bus garage, just after 3.20am, where a victim was taken to a north London hospital in a critical condition.
