The message comes after the owner of a scooter, advertised the sale on Gumtree, was attacked with an angle grinder and injured in Chiswick.

The victim interrupted two male suspects on a moped as they attempted to steal a Piaggio Vespa from a residential car park in Chiswick Common Road, at around 1am on Sunday August 20.

Police believe the scooter was targeted as the location of the bike was shown on a map on the Gumtree advertisement.

The suspects were both on a moped and their helmets had horns on top.

They fled in the direction towards Fishers Lane.
