Police have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying a noxious substance on the London Underground.

British Transport Police was called to Highbury and Islington Underground station on Friday (April 28), at 5.25pm, to reports a man was carrying a container of what was believed to be petrol.

Officers said members of the public were harassed at a number of stations on the Victoria, Piccadilly and Central Lines.

A 28-year-old man, from London, was arrested at Waterloo station at 7.30pm.

He has been released under investigation.
