A 20-year-old man has been arrested on Friday (November 6), on suspicion of murder in connection with the stabbing of a man in Brent on Thursday, according to Met Police.

A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in Watling Gardens on Shoot Up Hill at 3.06pm on Thursday (November 5).

The Detective Superintendent for Brent Police issued a statement reassuring locals of enhanced patrols following the murder.

Brent Detective Superintendent Tariq Sarwar said: "A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Brent yesterday, Thursday November 5.

"Brent officers are supporting the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command who are investigating the incident.

"I would like to express my condolences to the family and assure the local community that we are doing all that we can following this incident.

Tariq Sarwar continued: "Brent officers will use every legitimate tactic to disrupt those who carry weapons or are intent on causing harm to others.

“This means that there will be more targeted stop and search of those suspected of carrying weapons, more search warrants being executed to disrupt those intent on causing harm and more searches of open spaces to retrieve concealed weapons.

"In addition there will be enhanced patrols to provide reassurance to the community.

"I would urge the community to provide any information which could assist catching whoever is responsible."

The 20-year-old man arrested by police currently remains in custody at a north London police station.
