A man police were looking for in connection to a frail pensioner being attacked for just £5 has been arrested.

CCTV footage of Stanley Evans, 93, being bashed to the ground went viral on Monday (February 16). The footage showed the pensioner waiting for the lift in his own apartment block in Ingestre Court, Soho, Westminster, on January 31 at about 8pm.

The frail man, who lives on his own, had returned from the shops when he was pushed to the floor. His wallet, containing £5, is said to have been stolen.

Mr Evans was seen clutching his face in shock but managed to get to his feet, take the lift to his flat and call 999.

After thousands of Londoners saw the footage, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Camberwell at around 10.45pm and remains in custody at a central London police station.
