An armed man who barricaded himself above a pub in Ealing yesterday (Thursday) afternoon has been arrested.

Police were called to the Plough Inn in Northfield Avenue at 2.50pm after receiving reports of a man carrying a knife who had locked himself in staff accommodation above the pub. Officers including a police negotiator were outside the Fullers pub for nearly three hours before gaining access at 5.35pm.

The man, who was alone in the flats, was arrested and taken to hospital by ambulance crew at the scene. A spokeswoman for the Fullers brewery said the incident involved a member of staff at the Ealing pub. She said the pub had closed during the incident but reopened after a couple of hours on Thursday evening.
