The Uxbridge junction of the M4 motorway suffered delays after a car burst into flames.

A lane of the M4 London bound was closed on the Heathrow Spur and Uxbridge exit slip road at junction four, the A408, on Wednesday (September 13) morning.

Firefighters arrived on scene to tackle the blaze and clear the debris.

There was heavy traffic after a car fire on the M4 motorway

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "We were called at 8.30am to a car alight on the slip road going towards Uxbridge.

"We sent one fire engine to the scene."

The spokesman added: "It was all over for us at 8.46am. The Highways Agency are now dealing with the incident."

All lanes reopened shortly before 9am.
