Heavy traffic has built up on the M4 heading out of London following a crash westbound at J4 A408 ( Heathrow Spur) not far from Uxbridge .

The crash was reported at around 5.30pm and traffic is still down to one lane causing major queues in the westbound carriageway.

Google Maps is showing major traffic all the way from the junction back to Brentford.

Traffic also appears to be moving slowly into London on the eastbound carriageway.

There are reports online that the crash involved five-cars but this is unconfirmed.

It is unclear how serious the collision is or if anyone is injured.

The Highways Agency says there are delays of about one hour in the area because of the crash.

But work is underway to clear the road and congestion is expected to return to normal within the next hour.
