The M4 was closed in the westbound direction near Heathrow Airport in the early hours of Monday morning (February 27) following a collision.

One person suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital while another car was believed to have made off from the scene.

The road was closed out of London between junction 1 (Chiswick) and junction 3 (Heathrow Airport) following the two-vehicle crash at around 2.45am.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We were called at 2.46am to junction two of the M4 to reports of a RTC.

"A car is believed to have been in collision with another car and made off from the scene.

"There was only one person injured but the injuries have now been deemed non life-threatening, after initially being classed as serious."

The injured person was taken to a north London hospital.

Traffic was diverted off at junction 2 and the road reopened shortly before 6am.
